This is my biggest frustration with searching for FOSS information with Google. When the first guy writes up the hairy, overly complex procedure he used to solve some problem, everyone links it, and the article has huge Google karma. Meanwhile, others come up with better, cleaner solutions, or the distros solve the problem altogether, but any web search still points to the original document. There isn't a clean way of indicating that a work is obsolete if the owner won't modify it or pull it down.
