Ross Beazley, you do not have permission to re-publish my blog entries (without even asking for permission, without a link back to my blog, and with added ads no less) on your blog. I expect you to remove all my articles within the next 2 days (you are aware that what you are doing is copyright violation?) I don't see a way to contact you on the aforementioned web page either.

(To people on Planet Debian: he is mirroring the whole Planet Debian. Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't like this?)

Update 20091013: Webfusion (apparently a.k.a 123-reg.co.uk) was a good partner here: reasonably fast first answer to my complaint to their abuse department, and while they initially didn't take down the site in their announced timeframe (a few days), they immediately apologized and reacted after I prodded them again on the open ticket. The ticketing system is mail based, and I was communicating with an obvious human and not a stupid answerbot, too.

How did I find your page? Somebody asked me about a post “on your page”, he found it in Google. Why I care? When you look at my own blog, you'll see that I include the planet.debian.org feed on the right side, too. But I don't pretend the items are posted on my site, but clicking on the links takes you to the author's homepage. In contrast: on your page, there was not indication of how one may contact you, the posts appeared in-line as the main content of the page, there were no links at all to either planet.debian.org or the author's original pages, and you had comments enabled on these entries (and people would probably expect me to receive comments if they commented on my postings.) Also, planet.debian.org was all (or, you say, almost all) of the content and you felt you had to add Google ads, too (I know you haven't made much money, but that's not the point.) Please contact me directly if you want to discuss this further (and use a mail address where replies will reach you.)

Other people ought not to like this either. He's trying to profit from your work (posts), using advertising.

These sorts of scraping for profit websites have been around for a while, wikipedia had a chronic problem a while back with nefarious people scraping the wiki and adding adverts. The best idea might be to complain to the webhost, which looks like http://www.webfusion.co.uk and also file with google adsense https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/request.py?contact_type=dmca_complaint . Maybe some of the UK planet readers may have other ideas for dealing with this in the UK.

awsum! what a week to go on holiday and it all comes crashing down... hehe :) I didnt think there was anything wrong with taking an rss feed from p-deb and hosting on my own box? ive only ever had 5 clicks in a whole year on the adverts. I have been having 800ish unique visits a day and that must lighten the load on the other sites. I did have a few of my own posts buried in there aswell... if u look hard enough... getting domain unregistered... hehe at least i can see the funny side, hope you do aswell :) Just out of interest, how did u even find out and or care?
